Circularity due diligence: integrating circular economy risks in investment Due Diligence

Due diligence is the process taken by investors to understand and manage the risks associated with investing in a company.

Most Investment Due Diligence standards and best practices available for early-stage investors focus on traditional risk assessment criteria such as the financial, legal, market and ownership aspects of a company. However, few efforts have been made to develop an industry standard that could support investors to better understand the social and environmental risks and impact of their investment decisions, and how to better support their portfolio companies in integrating circular economy business models throughout their value chain.

This session aims to discuss how to integrate circular economy risk factors into Investment Due Diligence and how to raise circularity standards and reporting in the venture industry. The input gathered during this session will be used to develop a circularity due diligence checklist for early-stage investors.
